Microtonal Tuning

You Get Precise Control

Open DVZ’s Tuning & Temperament preferences to see the fine details of microtonal tuning afforded by 70 DVZ Strings. There you have a choice of 16 tone (quarter tone tuning) or 32 tone (eighth tone tuning). In the Quarter/Eighth Tone Selection-Eastern Micro Tuning panel (or using a Keyswitch) you can check off any keys that you wish to be played flat on your MIDI keyboard. These settings are especially useful for Bollywood and Middle Eastern textures.

Eastern Micro Tuning can also be useful for providing a degree of random pitch variation when 70 DVZ Strings is played quickly. Live players often play out of tune notes when playing quickly and this is one of the advantages of 70 DVZ Strings as opposed to libraries with fixed, permanently tuned samples.

Keyswitch Configuration

In the MIDI Menu you can set Keyswitch Configuration so that an external, standard two octave MIDI keyboard is optimized for use with Standard Western Tuning or two-octave Eastern Microtonal Tuning. Downloadable templates on the Audio Impressions website enable you to print keyswitch labels on US letter size or European A4 size AVERY labels.
